Cooking with Ghillie

*

Cooking with Ghillie in her atmospheric kitchen with stunning views of the surrounding hills is an experience in itself. Here you can smell and taste herbs and spices that you may never have dreamed of using, while you prepare simple and exotic dishes from around the world. With Anatolian wooden spoons, Indian and Turkish mortar and pestles, wooden boards and sharp knives, it is amazing what you can create. The tools may be simple but the food is delicious.

'The most marvellous day cooking and eating - the cooking so well explained, the Ingredients used almost a history lesson, and everything so, so good!'

This is truly a workshop, not a demonstration. 'Keep it simple and cook from the heart' is Ghillie's motto. There are no recipe sheets, just a little guidance, while you chop, cook and taste under the hands-on expertise of Ghillie. You may learn to smoke aubergines over a gas flame, or to make a divine Ottoman pudding using chicken breast, but one thing you can be sure of is that you will leave feeling as if you have been transported somewhere exciting and different.

To ease the labour, there are interesting cups of coffee or tea, refreshing nibbles, and plenty of wine! The ambiance is relaxed and casual and, at the end of all the cooking activity, you can sit down and enjoy the dishes you have prepared. You can also browse, or buy, Ghillie's books, along with unusual utensils she has collected from her travels.

Turkish or Moroccan, Italian or Indian, Middle Eastern or Malaysian - there are so many cultures to choose from. Or perhaps, you would like a workshop simply on spices, or on heavenly aubergines. The choice is yours, so why dont you come with a few friends and have a day out that will stay with you for a long time. Groups, families, and children over 10 are welcome. Enrol as soon as you can to be inspired and learn something new!
